Occupational Therapy

"Many patients come to us for upper extremity and hand problems that prevent them from doing their job and daily activities. We work together to restore strength and function." - Lorna Mercado, rehabilitation director of the Health and Wellness Center at Hamilton Park.

When pain prevents people from participating in the activities of daily living or their livelihoods, occupational therapy can help.

Occupational Therapy treats a variety of hand and shoulder dysfunctions through manual techniques, modalities, and exercise. Occupational Therapists also assist patients to regain their self-care independence in areas such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and home management. By using their understanding of growth and development, performance skills, and the physiological impact of illness or injury, they assist their patients in overcoming barriers that impact and limit their independence.
